Shielding Barium Sulfate sand is a specialized high-density radiation shielding material that plays a vital role in constructing protective structures for nuclear medicine, industrial radiography, nuclear power plants, and research laboratories. Its shielding principle is based on the physical law that a material's attenuation of radiation (particularly X-rays and gamma rays) is proportional to its density and the atomic number of its constituents. Barium Sulfate, containing high-atomic-number barium and having an overall density much higher than ordinary sand, effectively absorbs and scatters photons through mechanisms like the photoelectric effect and Compton scattering, thereby significantly reducing radiation intensity.
